Event: PIZZA PARTY INFORMATIONAL GATHERING
Every three years, 30,000 high school youth and their adult leaders from across the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA Youth Gathering. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives.
The 2021 ELCA Youth Gathering will be held in Minneapolis. Minneapolis, the “City by Nature”, will be a wonderful and unique host for the Gathering. It is a growing, diverse and Lutheran-dense city nestled on the banks of the Mississippi river in the heart of the Midwest. While in the city, Gathering participants will spend time at the Minneapolis Convention Center, US Bank Stadium, area hotels and local congregations in addition to the many restaurants, parks and cultural centers the city has to offer.
Youth who are in 8th – 12th grade at the time of registration (Fall 2020) are eligible to attend. That means any youth who are currently in 7th grade or older are eligible to consider going. While 2021 may seem a ways off, I would like to invite youth and parents who may be interested to attend a Pizza Party Gathering on Sunday, October 6, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. I am suggesting every family bring along their favorite pizza to share. It will give us an opportunity to share stories, answer any questions you may have and at least begin thinking about attending. We will gather at St. Paul's in Mountaintop on October 6th and look forward to being able to explore this opportunity with you...

Event: TALENT & CRAFT AUCTION
This year’s TALENT & CRAFT AUCTION is scheduled for Sunday, October 27th. The doors open for browsing at 5:30 PM and the AUCTION begins at 6:00 PM. For those of you who are new members, this is when we let our talents shine and have lots of fun doing it. It may be that you have hobbies that are very creative and you can produce something magnificent in that way. Maybe you would like to offer your time by babysitting, raking leaves or other fall yard work, or shoveling snow for someone who cannot do this anymore, or helping someone paint a room in their house, etc. Gardeners can produce beautiful flowers and plants, or bakers that can produce some goodies or cooks can prepare a few meals for a shut-in. Or holiday decorating, hand stitched item, etc. Bring donations in that morning. Every one of us has a skill of some sort that can be auctioned off. We are certain you can come up with something that would be of value. If you have not started yet, now is the time to get your thinking caps on and come up with something that will reap a benefit for WELCA’s treasury. WELCA has done so much for our church through the years, and now it is our time to help them so that they can continue doing well for not only our church but the community as well. Apple dumplings will be served at the auction and usually leftovers are sold at the end of the auction. Any questions call Sue at 474-6558. Thank you in advance!
